MESP Air Filter

Electrostatic air filtration designed for commercial and industrial HVAC systems.

HydroBall’s Micro-Electrostatic Precipitator (MESP) air filter uses electrostatic technology to capture airborne particles as air passes through the filtration system. Designed for suitable air handling units (AHUs), MESP combines a washable collection module with a low-pressure-drop design to support air filtration and reduce reliance on disposable filter media.

MESP Air Filter

The MESP air filter is designed to capture airborne particulate matter in commercial and industrial HVAC systems. Unlike conventional filters that rely primarily on mechanical filtration media, MESP uses electrical charges and an electric field to attract particles onto collection surfaces.

Its washable and reusable collection module provides an alternative to disposable filter media, while its low-pressure-drop design helps manage airflow resistance.

MESP is suitable for HVAC applications where particulate filtration, maintenance requirements and airflow performance are important considerations.

How Does the MESP Air Filter Work?

The MESP air filter uses an electrostatic process to capture airborne particles in three stages.

1. Particle Charging

An electrical charging section transfers electrical charges to airborne particles carried in the airflow.

2. Electrostatic Particle Collection

The charged particles pass through an electric field and are attracted to collection surfaces within the filter module.

3. Filter Cleaning and Reuse

Captured particles accumulate on the collection surfaces. The washable module can be cleaned and reused according to the manufacturer’s maintenance instructions.

Key Features of the MESP Air Filter

Electrostatic Particle Collection

Uses electrical charges and an electric field to capture airborne particles, including fine particulate matter. Actual collection efficiency depends on the model and operating conditions.

Washable and Reusable Filter Module

The collection module is designed to be washed and reused, helping reduce disposable filter consumption and replacement requirements.

Low-Pressure-Drop Design

Designed to limit airflow resistance, which can help manage fan energy consumption when properly selected and installed.

AHU Integration

Designed for integration with suitable air handling units and compatible ducted HVAC systems, subject to the selected model’s installation and operating requirements.

Applications of the MESP Air Filter

MESP is designed for suitable HVAC applications where airborne particulate control and filter maintenance are important.

Commercial Buildings

Air handling systems serving offices, commercial spaces and centralised air-conditioning systems.

Hotels and Large Complexes

HVAC systems serving guest rooms, shared indoor spaces and other occupied areas.

Healthcare Facilities

Suitable air handling applications, subject to the facility’s required filtration performance and infection-control specifications.

Industrial Facilities

Compatible HVAC and process-support environments requiring airborne particulate control.

Frequently Asked Questions

MESP stands for Micro-Electrostatic Precipitator. It is an air filtration system that uses electrical charges and an electric field to capture airborne particles.

The system charges airborne particles and attracts them to collection surfaces as air passes through the filter module.

The collection module is designed to be washable and reusable. Follow the manufacturer’s cleaning and maintenance instructions to maintain performance.

MESP is designed for suitable air handling unit applications. Compatibility depends on the selected model, airflow requirements, installation dimensions and electrical arrangements.

Electrostatic filtration can capture fine particulate matter, including PM2.5. Actual removal efficiency should be confirmed using performance test data for the specific model.
